In 2016, Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park granted investment licenses to nine projects with a total investment of 200 million USD, bringing the number of licensed projects up to 78 worth 3 billion USD combined. These figures were released at a conference held in Hanoi to call for more investment in Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park,
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Doan Toan said Hanoi city is shifting its industrial structure toward giving priority to developing hi-tech industries. He pledged that local authorities will better facilitate investors, including those investing in Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park.
To attract more investment in the park, Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh suggested the management board of the park advancing infrastructure facilities within the park, improving quality of human resource and quickly solving difficulties investors encounter in implementing their projects. He also emphasized that the park’s management board need to pay attention to organize investment promotion conferences to advertise investment climate to domestic and foreign businesses.
Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park was established in 1998. The park is the first and the largest hi-tech facility in Vietnam with total area of 1,586 ha and core hi-tech fields developing in the park include information technology, communication, electronics, biology, new materials and energies. It is expected to become a model science space and a national hub for technology development and application.
Recently, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc approved updated plans for the park, to be completed by 2030 in Hanoi’s outlying districts of Thach That and Quoc Oai.
Under the updated plan, a 123 ha education and training zone with universities and vocational training schools will be built in the park. A research and development zone which covers an area of over 263 ha will be constructed to serve R&D institutions or those to train, attract and support hi-tech experts. The zone is forecast to bridge academic studies and practical applications. In addition, a software zone of almost 56ha will serve software producers and software service providers.
