According to the MobiFone, the MobiFone’s customers will be offered experience with a wide range of services, such as LTE Broadcast (eMBMS), LTE Unicast, 4K TV, Robot Vehicle and online games, in high-speed 4G networks. The MobiFone is the Vietnam’s second biggest mobile operator in terms of subscribers.
The MobiFone’s 4G services will be tested in the three major cities of Hanoi, Da Nang and HCM City. The launch of the new services marks the beginning of a new chapter for the company in which it aims to provide clients with a full package of services, MobiFone Chairman Le Nam Tra said.
MobiFone has established a network of retail stores that sell mobile phones and other high-end devices throughout the country since 2015 along with providing telecommunication services.
In 2015, the MobiFone’s revenue was 36.9 trillion VND (over 1.65 billion USD) and its profit was 7.4 trillion VND (331.7 million USD).
Before MobiFone, Viettel tested 4G services in December last year in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, with an average speed between 40 and 80 Mb/s, though it could reach 230 Mb/s in some spots. Meanwhile, Vinaphone piloted the 4G services on Phu Quoc Island and in HCM City in January this year.
