Thua Thien-Hue wants to become central region’s garment hub

According to Thua Thien-Hue province’s authorities, the central province is planning to to become one of the central region’s garment hubs in the next five years.

According to Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cao, the locality has zoned off 400ha in Phong Dien Industrial Park for garment support industry development with a view to boost the sector in a sustainable manner.

To become the central region’s garment hubs in the next five years, the province will invest total 6.6 trillion VND (297 million USD) in developing the domestic market and expanding exports while promoting product design and trademark building and developing a fashion industry in combination with environmental protection.

ThuaThien-Hue now has six industrial parks housing 50 apparel enterprises with a total of 300 sewing lines.

The province needs to call on major groups from the US, the Republic of Korea and Canada to provide high-quality materials, said garment businesses, the provincial Chairman noted.
