The event was jointly organized by the Embassy of Vietnam in Argentina and the Argentina - Vietnam Cultural Institute (ICAV). Many Argentinean businesses attended this seminar.
According to Argentinean Customs, in the first five months this year, the trade value between the two nations reached 1.27 billion USD, a 32 percent year-on-year increase.
Vietnam’s exports to Argentina were valued at 355 million USD, doubling the same period last year, while Argentina’s exports to Vietnam stood at 918 million USD, up 8 percent.
During the seminar, Lanus district in Argentina’s Buenos Aires province said that they want to boost trade and economic ties with Vietnam, the district’s Secretary of Economic Development Oscar Jofre said that.
He said Lanus wants to import consumer goods, such as electronics and garments from Vietnam while it can sell leather and leather products and automobile spare parts to the Southeast Asian country.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Thanh Van, Vietnamese Commercial Attaché in Argentina updated the local business community on Vietnam’s economic development and potential for trade exchange.
ICAV Director Poldi Sosa noted the opportunities in tourism cooperation between the two countries, adding that around 10,000 Argentinean tourists visit Vietnam each year.
Numerous documents featuring Vietnam’s landscapes and tourism were delivered to participants during the event.
