According to no 21/2009/QD – TTg, the regulation of electric price will be implemented from March, 1st 2009 with average price of 948.5 dong/kWh for 2009, increase of 8.92 percent compare to 2008. The first ladder in price list for living electricity from the level of 1 – 50kWh, price compensation level for this ladder occupied for 35-40 percent of average electric price, ladding cost from 51 – 100 kWh will calculate by average cost, no including benefits. Above-said electric price list will be applied in the whole country. From 2010 onwards, electric price will be applied upon the market price.
Speaking at press meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has showed that, the regulation of electric price for 2009, which has been calculated carefully by Government, due to electric price regulation ought to have realized in 2008, with the reason of domestic as well as world economy situation, thus must be postponed. Regulation of electric price in this time is an indispensable step in economy towards the market, if no realization before, must be done later, if last longer, will make disadvantage.
Deputy Prime Minister has also explained that mechanism is given for Electricity Field for its operation by the State, providing for electric source serving for economy, but if no regulation of electric price timely for attraction of investment, difficulties will be met by Electricity field on capitals source for development of electric network and source, electric deficiency will be taken place, making effects of production, living and national security.
