Hội nghị được tổ chức tại Việt Nam lần này sẽ là bước khởi
động trong khuôn khổ ASEM về ứng phó và giảm nhẹ thiên tai.
Bộ NNPTNT kỳ vọng, qua Hội nghị, Việt Nam sẽ tranh thủ được sự ủng hộ và hỗ trợ của ASEM, nhất
là Ủy ban châu Âu trong lĩnh vực phòng chống thiên tai, cứu hộ, cứu nạn.
Đặc biệt, trong bối cảnh tần suất và cường độ thiên tai ngày càng gia tăng tác động sâu rộng đến môi trường cũng như cuộc sống của người dân Việt Nam nói riêng, các nước khu vực nói chung, Hội nghị cũng kỳ vọng sẽ tìm được tiếng nói đồng thuận về các giải pháp ứng phó thiên tai giữa các nước trong khu vực.
