The factory occupies an area of approximately 338 ha of land and 471 ha of sea, with a capacity of 6,5 million tons of crude oil per year, equivalent to 148.000 barrels per day, which is expected to meet approximately 30% of gasoline demand in Vietnam. According to Nguyen Hoai Giang – General Director of the Dung Quat oil refinery, then the location of the factory is now the optimal method by three factors: Firstly, Dung Quat has deep water port which is very convenient for import and export goods, especially petroleum products transported by sea generally. Secondly, Dung Quat is a relatively pristine area, sparsely populated, so very convenient for the construction factories of large-scale and develop support industry later. And a very important cause and meaning is, Quang Ngai as well as Central is an area of economic development which is rather slow because there are no conditions and motivation, so put the plants in here will have a huge effect in stimulating economic development, create jobs and contribute to local budgets, contribute to change the face of people's lives here.
