Trong 7 tháng qua, nhập khẩu xe ô tô nguyên chiếc nhiều nhất vẫn là ô tô 9 chỗ ngồi trở xuống với gần 9.900 chiếc, tăng 14,6%; ô tô tải gần 8.300 chiếc, tăng 42,2%; ô tô trên 9 chỗ ngồi 338 chiếc, gấp 2,9 lần; ô tô loại khác hơn 1.200 chiếc, giảm 11,8% so với 7 tháng năm 2012.
Lượng nhập khẩu ô tô trong tháng 7 chỉ đạt gần 2.700 chiếc, giảm 26,4% so với tháng trước.
Hàn Quốc tiếp tục là nguồn chính cung cấp ô tô nguyên chiếc cho Việt Nam với gần 9.260 chiếc, tăng 38,9% so với cùng kỳ năm 2012 và chiếm 47% tổng lượng ô tô nguyên chiếc nhập khẩu của cả nước; tiếp theo là Thái Lan hơn 4.000 chiếc, tăng 38,6%; Trung Quốc 2.280 chiếc, giảm 5%; Nhật Bản 1.100 chiếc, tăng 45,5% …
