Mặc dù gần đây có một vài trở ngại đối với xuất khẩu của Việt Nam sang Mexico (như việc Mexico áp dụng lệnh cấm nhập khẩu tôm từ Việt Nam), song kim ngạch xuất khẩu hàng Việt Nam sang Mexico 9 tháng năm 2013 dự kiến vẫn tăng 16,6%, ước đạt hơn 595 triệu USD. Các mặt hàng xuất khẩu chính của Việt Nam sang Mexico gồm: Giày dép, thuỷ sản, dệt may, linh kiện điện tử và cà phê.
Nhập khẩu của Việt Nam từ Mexico dự kiến giảm nhẹ 1,5% so với cùng kỳ 2012, ước đạt 82 triệu USD. Các mặt hàng chính mà Việt Nam nhập từ Mexico gồm: Máy móc thiết bị, linh kiện điện tử và thức ăn gia súc.
Như vậy, 3 quý năm 2013 xuất khẩu của Việt Nam sang Mexico dự kiến sẽ đạt được 80% kế hoạch của cả năm và vượt mức kế hoạch bình quân giao cho 3 quý là 30 triệu USD.
